Theme: The Transfiguration — The Witness of the Law and the Prophets
Introduction: As Jesus led three disciples up a high mountain, a celestial light suddenly pierced the darkness. This artwork invites us to witness Christ’s glory alongside the two great figures of the Old Testament—Moses and Elijah. It is a divine moment where the Law and the Prophets testify together that Jesus is the beloved Son of God, offering us a glimpse of heavenly peace.
Scripture: "Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him." (Matthew 17:1-3)
Artistic Appreciation
Christ in Glory with the Prophets: At the center is the transfigured Jesus. Beside Him stand Moses (representing the Law) and Elijah (representing the Prophets), symbolizing that the Old Covenant is fulfilled in Jesus.
The Chosen Disciples: Below, Peter, James, and John are shown prostrate on the ground. In awe, they witness this timeless conversation and hear the Father's voice commanding them to "listen to Him."
Divine Clouds and Radiance: The delicate etched lines of the clouds and the radiating light beams vividly represent the presence of God the Father, transforming the mountain into a sacred space.
Spiritual Reflection: St. Thérèse once said, "My soul there tasted a peace not of this world." On the mountain, the disciples longed to stay in that glorious moment forever. However, we must also "descend" to face life's trials. May this window remind us that the conversation between Jesus, Moses, and Elijah was meant to strengthen our faith. When we feel weary, let us recall the glory we glimpsed through the Word, allowing heavenly peace to guide our way forward.
