The Ascension of Jesus — Gazing Upward to Embrace the Mission

Theme:The Ascension of Jesus — Gazing Upward to Embrace the Mission
Introduction: Forty days after His Resurrection, Jesus ascended into Heaven in the sight of His disciples. This moment marks not only His return to the Father but also the birth of the Church's mission. Though He ascended, Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would come and assured us, "I am with you always, until the end of the age." As we gaze at the Lord among the clouds, we are filled not with the sadness of parting, but with the courage to spread the Gospel.
Scripture: "When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight." (Acts 1:9)
Artistic Appreciation
Glorious Ascent: At the center is the ascending Lord, His figure light and divine, symbolizing His triumph over earthly limits into eternal glory.
Clouds and Heavens: The etched clouds separate Heaven and Earth, yet bridge the Kingdom of God with the world of man.
The Witness of Disciples: The figures below represent the entire Church, receiving the final blessing and commission from the Lord.
Spiritual Reflection: St. Thérèse said, "My vocation is love!" Though Jesus is in Heaven, we remain connected to Him through love. The Ascension reminds us that our true home is in Heaven, but while on Earth, we must be His hands and feet. As you leave the church and look at this window, ask yourself: Am I ready to carry the Lord's blessing to warm the hearts of those around me?
