Pentecost — Igniting the Flame of Mission

Theme:Pentecost — Igniting the Flame of Mission
Introduction: This window captures the miraculous moment of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Virgin Mary and the Apostles as tongues of fire, marking the birth of the Church.
Artistic Appreciation
The Dove and the Radiance At the very top of the scene, the Holy Spirit appears in the form of a white dove, emitting powerful semi-circular beams of light. This represents the outpouring of God’s grace and wisdom from above.
Sacred Tongues of Fire Above the heads of the Virgin Mary and each of the disciples rests a flickering tongue of fire. This symbolizes the baptism of the Holy Spirit, igniting a fervent zeal within each heart and bestowing upon them the gift of speaking in various tongues.
Mary at the Center The Virgin Mary stands at the heart of the disciples in a posture of prayer. As the "Mother of the Church," she joins the disciples in prayer during this pivotal moment, quietly awaiting the promised Holy Spirit.
The Disciples’ Response Among the disciples, some kneel while others look upward, their eyes filled with awe and a deep longing to receive the spiritual gifts.
Scripture: "When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together... Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit." (Acts 2:1-4)
Spiritual Reflection: "St. Thérèse once promised: 'I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.' Pentecost was the very first 'shower of grace' sent by God upon humanity.
The disciples were initially hiding in fear, but after receiving the Holy Spirit, they became fearless. Do we often feel discouraged by the pressures and setbacks of life? May this window remind us that the Holy Spirit dwells within us. If we are willing to pray with one heart—just as Mary and the disciples did—the fire of the Spirit will ignite our lives, empowering us to spread warmth and love in our everyday moments."
