Salt of the Earth, Light of the World — The Christian Mission

Theme:Salt of the Earth, Light of the World — The Christian Mission
Introduction: As we receive God's grace and prepare to leave the sanctuary for our daily lives, the Lord Jesus has a sacred expectation for us. The window on the right side of the main entrance uses simple imagery to remind every believer: we are to be the salt that seasons life and the light that illuminates darkness. This is not just an identity, but a call to live out our faith through action.
Scripture: "You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father." (Matthew 5:13-16)
Artistic Appreciation
The Elevated Lampstand: The upper right depicts a lampstand ablaze, with flames turning into powerful radiating lines. This symbolizes how truth and good deeds possess the power to dispel the shadows around us.
The Mounds of Salt: The layered sections at the bottom symbolize salt. In antiquity, salt was a sacred commodity for preservation and seasoning; here, it reminds us to integrate into society, counteracting sin and adding the flavor of the Gospel to the world.
Symmetry of Mission: While the left door displays the glory of God (The Trinity), the right door displays the human response (Salt and Light). It implies that faith should not remain only in prayer but must be manifested in service to others.
Spiritual Reflection: St. Thérèse once said, "My vocation is Love." She did not perform extraordinary feats, but by infusing the ordinary tasks of the convent with immense love, she became a beacon lighting up the souls of believers worldwide. We do not need to be important figures to light up the world. Sometimes, a word of encouragement, a smile of tolerance, or a stand for justice is the brightest light and the most flavorful salt. May this window remind us that the moment we push open the church doors, our mission to spread the "fragrance of Christ" begins.
